Regarding the hospital parking situation, as a person who uses public transport all the time I am fed up with the complaints from car owners.

They seem to think that parking spaces should always be available to them, and as near the door to where they are going.

The spaces should be made available to hospital staff who have difficulty with public transport due to shift patterns and also the disabled.

I believe that visiting times will be extended, so this will give visitors plenty of time to use the various public transport available. Get out of your cars, exercise yourselves, and maybe hospital figures will come down.

Danger routes

AM I the only person in Glasgow who finds some of our pavement surfaces dangerous the second they get wet.

Buchanan and Sauchiehall Streets look fantastic but, unless you're wearing suction pads, you'll find yourself on the slippery slope.

It would be a good idea to factor in the purpose of the surfaces we put down and not just consider if they look good.

After all, with our weather, it's not as if Glasgow's streets don't get a good soaking on a pretty regular basis.

Air tax move

I LISTENED to Salmond saying devolution of air passenger duty would aid Prestwick Airport's future. But, if every airport was to have the APD abolished/lessened, I fail to see what advantage there would be to Prestwick.

As an airport it has had its day. Airlines and their passengers are looking to land as close to their destination as possible, not a train ride or in the case of Prestwick-Glasgow, a 40-minute car drive.

I would love to see Prestwick as a good going profit-making airport but there is only so much jam to spread about.

Maybe Mr Salmond has a big surprise in store, whatever it is, will need to be good.

Miller tribute

AS a fan of Frankie Miller, can I applaud the Lord Provost for giving him an award.

It is great to see one of our own remembered.
