Regarding the letter from Peter Wilson, I would like to inform him that I was not writing in praise of Jim Murphy I was agreeing with the sentiment of his proposal to tax the London millionaires.

It doesn't matter to me if it was Paddy Murphy, Spud Murphy or Jim Murphy who said it, I was stating my agreement with the demand that those who can afford to pay tax should contribute to the coffers like the rest of us and not be able to avoid it through dodgy accountants and tax breaks.

I am not the least bit political and was not trying to score points for the Labour Party. I have lived long enough to know that, any party, whatsoever, never live up to their promises, power corrupts, money corrupts, and the ordinary working person always gets the short end of the stick, no matter which party runs the country. So when someone has the guts to stand up and state something I agree with I have the right to concur. As far as I can tell free speech is still part of our constitution and if we ever lose that we are in right trouble.

I'm 100% for 20mph limits within the city as I'm sure it would go a long way in saving lives especially those of the young and elderly. In today's Glasgow there is little opportunity to go much faster as we now have pedestrian crossings on most main roads. 20mph on the city roads and also on the M8 between Easterhouse and M8-M77 as well.

Speed humps? Aargh. Bin them please.

I welcome and commend the Scottish Government for their attempts to tackle alcohol abuse. I would go further.

I challenge Nicola Sturgeon as First Minister of the Scottish Government to lead by example in tackling alcohol abuse by ending the purchase of alcohol using public funds.

And end the purchase and serving of alcohol on Scottish Government premises.

These places are non-smoking zones. They should also be non-alcohol zones.

Good news that the Scots nurse Pauline Cafferkey is improving slightly. She and her colleagues can only be described as modern day Angels with their bravery. She is a real inspiration.
