I wanted to add my congratulations to the city of Glasgow on its new hospital.

There seems to have been a build up before it opened its doors of a gloomy picture on the parking and transport side of things. However, can I point out this is an amazing facility and Glasgow you should be proud to have it.

I used the new hospital on Tuesday as a outpatient and I was amazing. Granted the different moves are still under way, but I found the facility and care second to none.

It is a great hospital which will be used by generations to come.

At a series of public meetings, the Swiss multi-national company, Ineos have stated that the future of their loss-making petrochemical plant at Grangemouth depends upon hydraulic fracturing, and their ability to process shale gas. In October 2013, Ineos announced the closure of the same plant, in a move which was, this time, intended to impose a pay deal on their workforce. Should a company with such a demonstrated disregard for the welfare of workers in their own community be trusted to serve the best interests of ordinary people in the local communities of Scotland?

Also, if the Grangemouth Petrochemical Plant has been operating at a loss, then this is something for Ineos to deal with and it should not be used for political leverage. The responsibility for the profitable operation of this commercial asset should not be placed upon the people of Scotland and we should take every step possible to prevent our environment from being mis-used, via fracking, for what is purely short-term commercial gain.

Good to see both Rangers and Celtic becoming involved in events which are not primarily football focused. After all think of the thousands of young people who follow these teams and if they see their elders leading by example, it can only be a good thing.

I read that the Rangers Charity Foundation had helped raise money to immunise children around the world and the Celtic Foundation has donated money for the earthquake appeal.

Hopefully these measures will urge their fans to help create a better world around them.
