I was disappointed to read that the Men's 10K for next year has been scrapped.

It seems strange that just weeks after Glasgow was congratulated for having the best ever Commonwealth Games, that a sporting event is not being helped or saved.

I would have thought we might have seen even more events being planned next year. What about running a marathon on the Commonwealth Games route? Come on Glasgow - get moving.

Speedy action

The Evening Times reported yesterday that police were targeting city centre boy racers.

For more than two years I have met people late at weekends in West Regent Street and the area was a constant track for boy racers in souped up cars. Not once have I seen a police presence that would act as a deterrent to the dangerous drivers.

Clean-up pride

Good to see the Evening Times articles about litter clean-ups in the city.

I hope it will inspire other communities to do the same thing and take pride in their area.

Union backer

Alex Salmond claims there is lots of excitement and a carnival atmosphere about the referendum and the momentum is with the Yes campaign.

What exactly are we supposed to be excited about? We don't know what currency we would have and what is the point of leaving the Union only to have to try to rejoin a currency union and try to rejoin the European Union?

Everything he has promised can be achieved as part of the Union.
