I would like to thank the lady in the purple coat who kindly gave up her seat on the train I boarded at Drumchapel on Saturday.

The train was jumping and as I have a false leg I was so grateful that I did not have to stand all the way into town. It was much appreciated and goes to show there are still people around who are kind and have good manners. Thanks again.

Every time Glasgow City Council try to make improvements or do something different for the benefit of the city you get moaning faced Glaswegians complaining and petitioning this and that.

The stairs outside Buchanan Galleries have served their purpose but it is time for change and time to move forward also it is not an outside eating area either. Let the planners get their work done and stop trying to halt progress.

It is a blow when a school closes but is it due to falling school roles? If so that is understandable especially when children can be integrated into nearby schools. Fortunately there is another school Craigdhu Primary which is in close proximity to St Joseph's and also Milngavie Primary in Hillhead Street so it is not exactly a catastrophy.

I was pleased to read about plans for the old Odeon cinema on Renfield Street. It was always at the heart of the city and a hub for meeting people are standing them up.

Let's hope the hotel plans go through and it helps to build up the city centre.

People will have fond memories of the cinema and it is sad to see buildings from yesteryear lying empty.

What an emotional night again in Glasgow with the city hosting Sports Personality of the Year. It brought all the good feelings back from the Commonwealth Games and was great to see Sir Chris Hoy presented with his lifetime achievement award. A pretty remarkable career.
