What a fraud Jim Murphy has turned out to be.

First of all he paraded through Scotland supporting his Tory and Liberal friends as they moved heaven and earth to block Independence. He made it clear that Scots couldn't run their own affairs and that all important decisions should be made in London.

Now after the no vote and his appointment as Scottish Labour leader it's all change.

Mr Murphy now believes in Independence. From now Jim will make the decisions for the party in Scotland. Whatever happened to all Mr Murphy's better together ideas.

I was astonished to read Councillor Nina Baker's comments on young people sitting on the steps outside the Concert Hall. She actually approved of this. Has she never seen the notice asking people not to block the bannisters. I went to the booking office and the steps were very busy. A cyclist had rested his bike on part of the bannister and the other was blocked by a group of young people. I am 81-years-old and took the steps like a toddler. When I reached the top I couldn't resist telling the youngsters to show a little more consideration. Maybe when the alterations are done there are signs in bright red to stop people sitting next to the bannisters.

Can I say how much I enjoyed reading about the retiral of Jamie Webster from the Clyde shipyards. He is certainly among the last of the characters who have spoken up for the workers over the years. I hope he enjoys a long and happy retirement.

So plans for 600 more flats have been given the go ahead for the West End. When will it stop. I realise there must be a demand, but what about creating communities long term. It is all very well having students, but what about making areas attractive for people to want to raise families and create homes for generations to come. I have students living near me and it doesn't make for the best residential environment.
