WE often often hear about many complaints these days regarding poor service so I'd just like to write about the great service my daughter and her baby received when she had to visit the A&E at Yorkhill Children's Hospital last Wednesday.

All the staff, from reception, nurses and the consultant were fantastic. Even though it was very busy, they were very caring and professional.

Thanks to all and keep up the good work,

My heart goes out to the family involved in the house fire in Glasgow.

It is a terrible thing to happen at any time of year, never mind Christmas. I suppose the main thing is they are all together. I hope somehow they are able to rebuild their lives.

It makes you realise what is important at this time of year.

Regarding kids face dickensian Christmas, what a load of complete nonsense. My partner is employed in the social services sector and is often amazed if not angered by the amount of benefits some people are receiving often well in excess of her take home salary.

It is not unbeknown for a couple to be receiving around £1000 per week in handouts.

These same people have the latest smartphone/Sky tv package/smoke/buy take away meals almost nightly and often a car perhaps even supplied kindly by the Government under the Motability scheme.

If their children go hungry it is not the fault of 'society' but their parents whom are having their lifestyle funded but squandering the money on luxuries that most working people can ill afford.

I am afraid in general it is the working person whom is often 'poor off,' especially having to work and pay for peoples handouts whom then whinge that it is never enough.
