I was not surprised to see so many members of the public turn out to support the George Square minute silence.

As soon as news spread about it, I think many people felt compelled to go along and show the families of all those involved how they are in our hearts and thoughts.

As we approach a new year, it seems strange to think of Glasgow moving on. But one thing is for sure, the families will always be with us as this city tries to rebuild.

What a heart-warming story to read about the gentleman who turned 100.

George Mulveny sounded like he was relishing his birthday celebrations and why not. What a great age and achievement.

I am full of admiration for Mr Mulveny and I hope he and his family have a brilliant day.

Worrying times that more problems seem to have arisen with the quay wall. It was closed for months on the other side and now this. I don't think you can say it is up to the flat owners to do something when the River Clyde and the quay wall have been there a lot longer than the flats.

How are we supposed to develop a riverside culture and encourage people to walk along the quayside.

This should be a city concern as one way the city could flourish is for it to have a thriving riverside full of cafes and restaurants.

If people are turning their backs on shopping maybe we should think about creating a new river city it would certainly have an economic benefit. You only have to look at how Glasgow's restaurants are jumping most weekend to realise it could be a winner.
