WHY are there (council) cuts at all.

They were bragging the other week about saving millions on an underspend from the games.

And what about the millions it is costing to bring in Fastlink, which is totally uneccessary. All that is needed is the promised improvements to existing services and extra parking for the new hospital, which this same council have refused planning permission for.

GLAD to see that the hated poll tax has finally been consigned to history and that all debts have been cancelled.

However, I was horrified to see that the council is still using aggressive tactics to pursue council tax debts.

My neighbour came to my door one evening showing me a letter, detailing a debt from about ten years ago. A debt she had had no clue she had aquired.

A debt totalling around £100. She is informed in this lettter that she will be taken to court if she fails to pay it within a certain time frame.

Bearing in mind that she had no idea she owed the money and it's ten years ago, I felt outraged on her behalf about the tone of the letter.

She fully intends to pay the money but is elderly and was really worried about being taken to court. Shame on you, Glasgow City Council.

AM I alone in thinking that the police are actually doing a good thing with stop and search.

I think it is one of the greatest assets our force can have just now.

Surely we want our communities to be safe for all ages. I for one, wouldn't object to being searched as I have nothing to hide.

Don't get me wrong, I am not in favour of a police state, but I think we are blowing stop and search out of all proportion.

Good luck chief constable - keep on it.
