Lost without Remploy

I find it an absolutely disgrace that more than half of the Remploy worker force still don't have employment. Some of these workers were at Remploy for nearly 20 years, but that didn't mean a hoot to Cameron and Clegg who rubber stamped Remploy's closure. Working at Remploy was more than a job to some of the workers it was also social as they met friends and had contact with the outside world. I recently spoke to one of the unfortunate ones and they told me they can go weeks without speaking to anyone.

Hope you can sleep at night Cameron and Clegg.

Sad closure for homeopathic hospital

I trained in the Edinburgh College of Classical homoeopathy. Then worked for a while in a city centre clinic in Glasgow. It is a sad that Scotland, the country that gave Samuel Hahnemann through the work of Cullen, the 'enlightenment' to formulate the art and philosophy of health and healing, known as homoeopathy, has decided to close both doors and minds on homoeopathy and the hospital.

Vested interests are unfortunately the name of the game. An intelligence more akin to primitive survival behaviours. So long as they get their needs and wants met, consideration of society as a whole is irrelevant, kind of reptilian brain stuff? When vested interests become the order of the day 'enlightenment' is discarded and the 'product' becomes the driven force. A sad closure to the fame of Cullen and the old Scottish Enlightenment.

Little sympahty for supermarket giant

For years the big supermarkets have been living off the backs of the general public. I would go as far as saying that their tactics probably amounted to a cartel so whilst regretting the non-creation of much needed jobs I find it hard to have any sympathy here for a company whose aggressive tactics have put many small shops to the wall.

Now we have supermarkets proclaiming how wonderful they are with big price reductions as if they are doing us all a big favour when in reality their profiteering has been exposed by two two lesser well known outlets who are able to sell the same/similar type products at much reduced prices... and still make a profit.

Fitting tribute

It was good to see the people of Glasgow come together to remember the victims of the Paris attacks. It seemed appropriate for a country such as ours, which has a strong Auld Alliance, to take part in a vigil. Like so many people around the world I was truly shocked by events and my thoughts go out to all the families involved.
