As an ex-Remploy employee of 30 years, I was delighted to read of NLI taking over the factory in Wishaw and employing some of the disabled workers there.

Good for them in recognising that it is not easy for people with disabilities to find employment.

It begs the question why something similar couldn't be done for the Remploy factory in Springburn, which had orders on its books when it closed?

I'm sure there will be others like myself from this factory, still looking for suitable employment. It is truly soul destroying.

No-go Glasgow

A light rail system would be great but we are getting bus gates, bus lanes, restricted parking. They are welcome to it.

Due to all these proposals, Glasgow will soon get a name as a place to avoid.

Black marks

Quite honestly, the big stores only have themselves to blame for the 'riots" on the so-called 'Black Friday'.

They have imported an American shopping invention to this country in the hope of cashing in - as if they need more money - in the run-up to Christmas.

In America, Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. We don't have Thanksgiving in the UK, so how can we have Black Friday?

Or maybe Tesco, Asda and the rest will provide all their shoppers with free turkeys to usher in Black Friday. Fat chance!

A class act

Well done to comedian John Bishop for taking time out to visit Glasgow schoolchildren while on tour in the city.

To be honest, he's not my favourite comedian but his gesture shows a touch of class and he has given some kids a day they will never forget.
