I am getting increasingly confused by the rhetoric of Better Together.

They claim that if Scotland votes for independence there is "no going back." They also claim that the rest of the UK don't want us to go. So, surely if things didn't work out under independence, we'd be welcomed back, especially if we came begging with our tails between our legs.

Cycle path fines

So, motorists are now to be fined for parking in cycle lanes?

One of the reasons being put forward is that this type of parking impedes the progress of cyclists. Not in Glasgow it doesn't, where most cyclists seem to use the pavements.

Is the council also going to be as vigilant with cyclists who ignore red lights?

Give us a break

I see the St Enoch Centre is starting its festive recruitment drive - I take it that doesn't include Santa, as I thought he had a job f or life.

It seems retailers are getting earlier and earlier with their quest to push Christmas down our throats.

I understand they are all competing for sales, but could they not give us a break, until at least Hallowe'en.

Not scared

Of all the insults Yes campaigners throw at us, the worst is that voting No makes us cowards.

Thinking for ourselves, not swallowing all the promises made by Alex Salmond makes us level-headed and worldly wise and there is indeed courage in that.

Welcome home

What a treat it was to arrive back at Glasgow Airport at the weekend to be met by efficient and pleasant passport staff.

It made a real difference and must be a great boost for visitors coming to the city. You can't say we don't give people a good Glasgow welcome.
