Why do people insist on keeping potentially dangerous dogs as pets?

Visit any PDSA vet practice and the majority of the dogs there now are huge, fierce beasts.

Most dogs I see in the street are of the pit bull or Staffie breed, or bred from them.

Children, for their own safety, should be warned to stay away from these dogs and the authorities should insist on licenses and muzzles on all dogs for the sake of public safety.

Too many wee kids have been killed or scarred for life. It's time for action.

Tipping point

THE problem of fly-tipping in Knightswood is getting worse. And this despite the fact we are only a short drive away from the Dawsholm tip.

There is no need to leave rubbish outside, you can phone the Cleansing Department and they come and pick it up free of charge.

Once someone dumps rubbish in the street, then, under the cover of darkness, others, like sheep, follow suit.

I came out this morning to find two beds and a three-piece suite in my street. I wonder what will have been added to the pile when I go home from work tonight.

Not my fault

Re. Strict liability for drivers is rejected (Nov 15). On Friday evening, I was driving down Garscube Road. There were three defective street lamps, it was dark, and, ahead of me a cyclist approached a parked car, which I also saw.

Suddenly, and without warning, the cyclist pulled out, causing me to do likewise and almost clip a man, again dressed in black, standing in the carriageway.

I don't know how I missed him, but it would most certainly have been the cyclist's fault if I had clipped him.

Rules of road

Thank goodness for a bit of common sense (for once) on cycling laws

Cyclists are a nuisance of the roads. When they start obeying the law, instead of going through red lights, I may have more respect for them.
