In reply to Councillor Alistair Watson, while the capital expenditure for the South Glasgow hospital was made available by the Scottish Government, planning acceptance for the building was the council's responsibilty and they should not have accepted this without adequate parking and traffic management.

There is a huge area of vacant ground on the west side of Hardgate Road, so why did the hospital management not buy this land when it was for sale three years ago?

This would enable plenty of parking spaces and room for future hospital expansion.

Cheats scandal

Mis-selling, rigging, fixing - if other people did this they would be facing criminal charges.

Why are bankers and MPs allowed to fiddle and cheat? Is it any wonder almost half the people of Scotland voted to leave the UK system of Government?

Patchy record

RegardING Gordon Matheson's comment that years of disproportionate cuts from Scottish Government are putting pressure on services, he does not fill the electorate with confidence. His track record is patchy at best. Red Road Flats and George Square development come to mind. Perhaps an SNP administration ruling the City Chambers might be worth a try.

Ship memories

Re: the 1891 shipbuilding picture from Clydebank in the Memories section, who'd have thought less than a century later the whole industry would be history? But what a century, with some of the vessels ever to grace the waves.

Hospice joy

What a wise U-turn to save St Margaret's hospice from closure. Now they have had an inspection which has given them top marks it looks like the decision to save it was worth it. And for those who use it I am sure it is a great support.
