Eric Reynolds contribution in yesterday's the letters page is just a rant and completely devoid of facts.

The City Deal for Glasgow was conceived by Glasgow Labour, brokered by Glasgow Labour and delivered by Glasgow Labour despite the muted and docile support from the Scottish Government.

On the issue of Crossrail this is project which is of fundamental and strategic importance to Glasgow and the wider city region and is a key part of the Labour administration manifesto commitment to deliver, so Jim Murphy's endorsement is welcome but received only a grudging response from Keith Brown which I have to say was predictable. The Scottish Government's policy on rail investment is all over the place. This from a government who cancelled the Glasgow Airport Rail Link (GARL) and have still to explain why.

Desperate Stuff from Mr Reynolds.

The latest news about HSBC collusion in tax evasion is just another example of these people ignoring the law. Anyone involved should be fired.

Also any money transferred out of this country should be subjected to the basic rate of income tax.

This includes sums under £2000 transferred through any of the wire services.

Regards Kelly Brown's letter of February 9 on the Govanhill slum clearance.

She states: "This should encourage more people to move into the area."

Govanhill does not need more people. Govanhill has around 16,000 residents in an area which should accommodate circa 8000 residents.

Part creation of "properties which no one should be living in" is due to eight to 18 tenants living in flats built to accommodate two to six tenants. Waste of finance throwing pounds at Govanhill whilst our city councillors turn the proverbial blind eye to high tenancy and overcrowding. Glasgow City Council has the rules and regulations to reduce such overcrowding, but does not have the will.

Alison Thewliss says people are not happy with Labour backing Trident. Thousands of people are delighted that someone has the common sense to maintain our countries security. Mr Putin would not be marching into Ukraine if they had a nuclear deterrent.
