Everyone knew at least 24 hours before the event that the weather would be anything but conducive for piping, and what action was taken to alleviate this? None.
This event has always been well attended and profitable so surely at least a gazebo or open sided marquee could have been erected to give some shelter to the Grade One bands who represent the best of their countries and are the main attraction. But sadly, as usual, the marquee provided was for the councillors and their friends who spend most of the time enjoying the free hospitality, at the taxpayers expense.
Perhaps it is time the competition became truly international and was held in a different country each year.

IT would be a good idea for the Breahead Shoppjng Centre, the Velodrome, Ibrox Park, Celtic Park, Hampden Park, the St Enoch Centre, the Buchanan Galleries, Queen Street Railway station and Central station CCTV to be all linked up to a central hub. It would go along way in fighting crime, especially with the 2014 Games around the corner.

I totally agree with your John Giudici (Letters, August 17).
Just have a look at the terrible job done on resurfacing of Corkerhill Road particularly near Mosspark Boulevard. It does not appear to be properly tarmaced. In addition, in doing the work, the road drains have been blocked by the resurfacing material. I also noticed that another phone mast looks like being installed while the other phone control box is covered in graffiti and flyposting. I thought the council were supposed to be developing and regenerating and improving areas. They need to take a reality check in Mosspark.
