Watching the TV news the other night, I felt very emotional to see the British Medical Ship RFA Argus set sail from Falmouth for West Africa to help battle the Ebola crisis.

The whole of the top deck rail was packed with Army and Navy servicemen.

So moving to view such a massive ship, with so many people and supplies on board, going to help from Britain.

Let's hope that they will be at least partly responsible for containing this horrendous disease.

I hope the huge crowd cheered as they set off. They will certainly receive a massive cheer when they arrive.

Pricy tickets

So the football authorities in England think it's too dear to go to a game. It's way beyond time this problem was tackled in Scotland as well as England, but probably far too late.

Football used to be a game for the working man, now it is far too expensive, unless you have money to burn or are an absolute fanatic.

Sorry, but I wouldn't shell out anywhere near £30 or £40 to see some overpaid players trying to put on a show for 90 minutes, even if they are wearing my favourite team's colours.

As a lifelong football fan, I would be far happier supporting my local junior team.

Top tables

I welcomed American relatives to Glasgow a few weeks ago and they were very taken with the city, its people, and everything the place had to offer.

They were especially surprised by the many good and varied restaurants in the city. They are often overlooked but are something we should use more to promote our fine city.

Mad world

SO, the Dutch are to run our trains and a group of Spaniards have just bought Glasgow Airport.

Perhaps, while we're at it the Germans would like to take over our buses and the Aussies run our Subway. It really is a topsy-turvy world.
