FOLLOWING the tragedy at the Clutha Bar, I feel a lasting tribute to those lives lost would be to build a memorial garden on the site.

This would be a tranquil spot for the affected families and a peaceful corner for all Glaswegians to show their respect.

As the city's new slogan says: 'People make Glasgow'.

Stars at GFT

I liked your feature on the Glasgow Film Theatre. As a big film fan, I went to the GFT to see legendary screen star Janet Leigh. She was talking about her career and took a Q and A session.

The cinema was packed and I asked her if there was any modern film directors she would like to work with? She told me Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg.

I met her after the Q and A to get her autograph and she thanked me for asking a question. I was surprised she remembered me as there was so many people there.

City beggars

Regarding recent letters about beggars, I too am sick of them. Every few yards you meet one.

Last week, for instance, my friend and I were going along the Trongate, there was a young girl sitting by a bus stop begging. We went for a coffee and on our return her place had been taken by a young lad, obviously they are working together.

Something needs to be done to get rid of them before the Commonwealth Games.

Left in dark

REGARDING the city council's plans for new, hi-tech, smart lighting. I have complained previously about the lack of lighting in the pedestrian underpass at Alexandra Parade and the stairs approaching the underpass at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, yet nothing seems to have been done. Both spots are accidents waiting to happen
