I am not a football fan but your story on Fernando Ricksen reduced me to an emotional wreck.

To see that giant sportsman walking out onto the pitch and struggling to raise his arms due to this cruel illness, MND was heart-breaking to say the least.

At a time when Scotland has gone through a bitter divide and politicians are still trying to divide us even further, it was with great pride to see so many people turn out to pay tribute and honour this great man.

When it comes to showing compassion towards anyone afflicted with such a cruel and debilitating illness, people unite and it doesn't matter which football or religious leaning you have. That crowd yesterday did this great sportsman very proud. God bless Fernando and everyone who came out to honour him.

With the General Election coming up, I certainly won't be voting for David Cameron and his Tory party due to their broken promises and their wanting to raise money by cutting benefits.

This is typical of them, going after and targeting those most vulnerable in society.

Do they really think that cutting the benefits of a disabled person will cure them and make them fit for work.

Without any shadow of a doubt, I will be voting Labour, who want to raise money not by targeting the poor but by the Mansion tax which seems much fairer to me.

This country is always on about fair trade prices for growers abroad. What about fair trade prices for our dairy farmers and the price they get for milk. We seem to have our priorities all wrong. Let's start by looking after our own. Put ourselves first for a change.

I was interested in your piece about a Holocaust survivor telling her story to Glasgow school children. Perhaps hearing Ella Wessberger's first hand account will be a lasting reminder and a poignant way of learning about history. Seventy years on the horrors and stories must be told for lessons to be learned for generations to come.
