IT was with great pride I watched the Glasgow Warriors win the Pro12 final on Saturday.

What a great game and a big blow for options to football, which can be blamed for a lot of problems in our society.

I have been really impressed by the continual improvement of the Glasgow team, but what is hardly ever mentioned is the job that they have done in establishing themselves in the west of Scotland which has always been a football area.

I remember the only player from the west would be Ian McLaughlin or big Broon far Troon. Well done Glasgow.

WITH reference to your correspondent's recent article on Big Issue vendors, once again the media has been unfair to the generous people of Glasgow.

I have no doubt your correspondent's report on the number of Big Issue magazines is accurate, but he inadvertently forgot to tell readers of the many people who give the sellers a pound or two "without" taking a magazine.

People will always help those who try to help themselves, rather than those who just beg. Buskers are proof of this.

DOES anybody yet know if the upcoming in/out EU referendum will be a "once in a lifetime" opportunity? And, if so, will UKIP (as per the SNP) interpret these words to mean start talking about another referendum almost as soon as you've lost.

Good to see another new development due to open its doors near the River Clyde. It should be a booming part of our city, but it seems to get so long to get anything done.

What happened to the pavilions on the Broomielaw side, and the marina and flats plans? I think it is the most under-used area of our city when in fact it should be the heart of the city.

Thousands flocked to the river on one day alone last summer, bring those days back.

The nation showed again on Sunday night how they just can't resist a dog act. Maybe next year TVbosses should revamp Britain's Got Talent and just allow dogs to enter. It would solve the problem of having to sit through weeks of useless acts.
