Surely the answer to the shortage of affordable social housing is the same as it was 70 years ago - prefabs.

With the advances in technology surely they must be able to build warm and secure prefabs.

There are still some of the original houses standing in Paisley and Biggar that I know of. They have been given brick fascias and are nice looking little houses.

Also, I have known people who lived in prefabs who were sorry to see them go.

It was heartwarming to read about the Social Bite initiative raising money to feed the homeless on Christmas Day.

How amazing to have appealed for enough for 800 dinners and end up with enough for 36,000. To be homeless at this time of year must be particularly tough, due to the bad weather, and also due to the fact that people everywhere are talking about family, friends, food and possessions.

I hope those who were fed by Social Bite know that they were not just being given a dinner but that it was a symbol that people care about their plight.

In response to the City Link job losses:

You would think that at least somebody would have the heart to say, "Let them enjoy Christmas, we'll announce the job losses on Boxing Day."

As a Linwood resident I'll be really interested to see the results of this new Woodland Link project.

I enjoy being outdoors to keep fit and healthy, rather than being in a sport centre on a treadmill or rowing machine, so I really hope this encourages others to get out and active.

It will be summer by the time it is ready so no excuses for not making the most of it.
