I NOTE council officials and police are meeting to address the issue of boy racers in Glasgow city centre (Evening Times, September 10).

Could both parties not engage with these people to see if they can self police?

This could be done by holding a "modded" car show at George Square or even at Pitt Street police station. This could save the council and Police Scotland money on resources and patrols.

Conflict cost

I HAVE just read in the Evening Times that the UK government is sending £1.6million of ammunition to support the Iraq Kurds, as we are reliant on foodbanks, the bedroom tax is pushing people into poverty and the list goes on. (Evening Times, September 10)

This is why Scotland needs its own voice to make these decisions and stop being dictated to from Westminster on conflicts on international shores when we are in such a dire need of support here in Scotland.

Stay with us

FOR those of us with an equal interest in the UK but no franchise in the referendum poll this is a difficult time.

The hoped-for eloquence from a UK statesman putting the case for the Union with passion and emotion to match First Minister Alex Salmond has not materialised.

We wished to hear of the bond far greater than transient economic interest, whatever the accuracy of the disputed facts argued, that joins Cornwall to Northumberland, East Anglia to Anglesey and Antrim and all of us to Scotland.

Many of us have a stake in Scotland but are unable to act.

We hold our breath now in the hope that divorce is rejected.

Wi-fi success

GREAT to see more people are using the city wi-fi. I am not surprised there was a boost during the Commonwealth Games. (Evening Times, September 11).

Glasgow chiefs should be applauded for developing the idea.
