WHEN is a bus lane not a bus lane?

When there are no buses on the road to use it.. wrong. Not according to the people who rake in fines for straying into one at 2am when every bus in Glasgow is garaged and the drivers are safely tucked up in bed. Any right thinking person would think there must be a time when all is quiet and the last bus left the city centre ages ago that it was ok to drive in the bus lanes. After all, what is the purpose of bus lanes when there are no buses, but no, the powers that be still, parasitically fine the motorists, who rightly, would assume that the cameras are turned off for those few hours when the buses are not running. But no, there seems to be no one in authority with the brains to think this and switch the cameras off, or more cynically, they know it makes sense but want the mug motorists to cough up once again. Shame on them. I'm aware there are some streets with times when the restrictions are lifted after 7 pm and you can utilise the bus lanes but no one is clear if that applies everywhere causing even more confusion and chaos.

I AGREE with Brian Atkinson's letter which imitated that divisive religious attitudes are created within the home. However, the enforced religious segregation between denominational and non-denominational schools does nothing to heal the situation.

As a parent myself, I would rather have community schools which embrace all religions in our multi-racial society. This would surely promote a more tolerant and inclusive society.

The only way to break the sectarianism chain is to break down all barriers which prevent children from the same area learning and socialising together.

I have to object to a new flashing lights which city cyclists seem to be using in find their way about town.

We know they are right to make themselves more visible, but surely that should not be to the detriment to other road users.

I was blinded by flashing lights through the city yesterday morning from one cyclists and had to shield my eyes from the strobe effect. I think there are many drivers who may be affected by this and I think it should be rethought.

So sorry to hear of the death of Anne Kirkbride from Coronation Street. Her on screen character has Deirdre has come into our living rooms for decades and it is a very sad day.
