Nicola Sturgeon has promised parents an extra 1140 hours of free child care, which would allow women to go back to work, generating an extra £700 million a year in tax.

This sounds great, but where are all these jobs? There are young Scots leaving university who can't even find a job in a pound shop.

The SNP also says that independence would give them the power to allow "population growth" by allowing millions of immigrants with skills to take jobs and "boost our economy".

Again, where are these mythical jobs?

Laser pen thugs

I HOPE the police are able to catch the thugs who have been shining laser pens at pilots flying into Glasgow Airport (Wednesday).

This is a disgraceful act and completely reckless.

Do these people not think of the result of their actions?

It may seem to be a joke at the time, but it could put hundreds of lives at risk.

Cyclist fury

As a law-abiding driver, I could not believe my eyes this morning on the way into work.

A cyclist went through not one red light, but three. If that had been a car driver, they would have faced nine points on their licence, When will cyclists realise they are not above the law?

Student flats

WITH regards to the plans going on show for new student flats (Tuesday).

All very nice, but it should be homes for people in the city centre itself as they would be there all year around and contributing to the local area.

Airport sale

TRANSPORT Scotland should be discouraging competition.

Instead it should be encouraging integration of road and rail transport on the ground - before it starts to waffle about air services (Fears for Glasgow after airport's sale, Tuesday).
