CELTIC have had many memorable European nights at Parkhead over the years, but one of the most disappointing was in 1972 against Inter Milan...

J. McGOLDRICK (Glasgow) – In 1972, Celtic lost to Inter Milan on penalties at Parkhead in the European Cup and it was Dixie Deans who missed a penalty which cost the Hoops the tie. Can you tell me if Deans scored with two penalties in the next game against Motherwell.

Celtic did get two penalties in the next match at home to Motherwell, but it was Bobby Murdoch who scored with both.

Deans did score two goals and Bobby Lennox the other as Celtic won 5-2 and they went on to win the League.

BARRY THE BEAR (via email) – One of my favourite Rangers players of all time was the centre-half Colin Jackson. He was given a testimonial against Everton, which ended in a draw. The game was decided on penalties, and I think Rangers won. But my question is: Did Colin take one of the penalties?

This game took place in 1981, and ended up in a 1-1 draw. The game was, indeed, decided on penalties.

Rangers won this shoot-out 3-1. Colin took and scored one of the spot-kicks.

K. GALLAGHER (Glasgow) – Could you tell me how many caps Jackie McNamara won for Scotland and who were the opposition for his first and last caps.

Jackie McNamara won 11 caps for Scotland. His first cap was on October 5, 1996, when he came on as a substitute away to Latvia in Riga.

Scotland won 2-0 and Jackie replaced McKinlay with 10 minutes to go.

His last cap was on October 7, 2000, away to San Marino where he played the full 90 minutes as Scotland won 2-0.

D. KERR (Glasgow) – Do you have the scorers for a Clyde league match at East End Park against Dunfermline in 1965/66 season, when the Bully Wee won 6-4.

The match you refer to was on November 20, 1965, at East End Park, but it was Dunfermline who beat Clyde 6-4.

It was 5-1 at half-time and then went to 6-2 before Clyde hit back with two late goals to make it 6-4.

Scorers for Clyde were Gilroy, Stewart and Knox (2).

For the Fifers, it was Paton (2), Edwards, Robertson, Smith and Ferguson.

ANDY (Foxbar) – Can you tell me if St Mirren's Billy Stark scored a hat-trick against Raith Rovers in the summer of 1981?

Not quite. On Saturday, July 25, 1981, Billy scored a double in a 5-0 defeat of Raith Rovers in Kirkcaldy.

Frank McDougall also scored two, with Doug Somner getting the fifth.
