THE YOUNG ONES (Kilsyth) – Friendly debate in our Social Club. Who played most games for Rangers and who had the most shut-outs between George Niven and Billy Ritchie?
The careers of the two excellent goalkeepers over-lapped at Ibrox, with George Niven's career spanning 1951-61 and Billy Ritchie signing for the club in 1954 and remaining until 1967.
Coincidentally, when they left Rangers, both goalkeepers joined Partick Thistle.
Our records show that George Niven played 327 first- team games and had 106 shut-outs, picking up five League Championships, two Scottish Cup and one League Cup medals.
Billy Ritchie played 340 games, had 120 shut-outs and won two League Championships, four Scottish Cups and three League Cups.
PAUL (Shotts) – Did Stevie Murray, the Celtic player of the Seventies, ever get a full Scotland cap?
Stevie did play for Scotland on one occasion, however, at the time he was an Aberdeen player and the game was actually played at Pittodrie.
A 1-0 win over Belgium on November 10, 1971.
DAVE ROGERS (Via email) – I'm staying in Glasgow whilst studying at University. I have become an adopted member of the Tartan Army. One of my fellow fans told me that a player from my home town club Bury once played for Scotland. Is this true?
This is true. Tom "Tiny" Bradshaw made one appearance for Scotland. But what an appearance!
Tom was centre-half in the 1928 Wembley Wizards team that defeated England 5-1. Strangely, he was never capped again. No other Bury player has been capped by Scotland.
JIM (Stenny) – How many times have Falkirk won the Scottish Cup?
Falkirk have won the Scottish Cup on two occasions. The last time was in season 1956/7 when they beat Kilmarnock 2-1 in extra-time after a replay.
Their first success was in season 1912/13 when they defeated Raith Rovers 2-0.
It was both Falkirk's and Raith's debut appearance in the Scottish Cup Final.
JOHN (Erskine) – Can you tell me how many appearances did Billy Bremner make for Leeds United and how many goals did he score?
The Scottish legend played 772 times for Leeds United and scored 115 goals.
He was also capped 54 times for Scotland and scored three goals.
