Oh, impressed, vewy impressed. St George's Park looks fantastic and well worth every single penny of the £100million or so it cost. You could just tell the England players were delighted to be there and to be chatting with William and Kate at the grand opening.

Meanwhile, a few hundred miles north, Scotland get on the bus at their hotel outside Bishopton and head for their training session at Cappielow. Funny old game, isn't it?

Craig Brown

What a lucky break for young Robert Williamson. His Uganda side have failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, so the chances are he will not be held up as a paragon of success and emerge as the favourite for the Scotland job ... should it become available, of course.

Jim White

Get this, mates. Liverpool want Gary Hooper. Contract rebel Hooper is at the top of their list, with Brendan Rodgers set to nick in front of Newcastle to snap up the want-away striker.

I can tell you that he's desperate to play in the Premiership and get picked for England which, of course, he will never get playing in Scotland because that never happens ... unless you're Fraser Forster.

So, will Liverpool or Newcastle or someone else swoop, end Gary's Celtic hell and significantly weaken the Parkhead club? Let's hope so.

Gordon Strachan

San Marino? Liechtenstein? Andorra? What do all these countries have in common? That's right, their national teams are rubbish and they shouldn't be anywhere the qualifiers for the World Cup.

I'm no' sayin' they shouldn't get a chance, I'm saying that the wee diddy nations should have to play in a pre-tournament qualifying round first of all.

And you know this, I think if Scotland drew any one of them then we could more than hold our own.

Jimmy Calderwood

Oh aye, you know, I've always liked the Africa Cup of Nations. What did I think when I saw the rammy at the Senegal/Ivory Coast match? To be honest, it made me all nostalgic for the days I used to watch the Juniors and we'd draw a team from Ayrshire in the cup. Great battles so they were.. and the actual football was hard too.
