Welbeck relishing Rooney's company

Danny Welbeck has spoken of his eagerness to maintain an England partnership with Wayne Rooney as he aims to help his country finish top their World Cup qualification group with a victory in Poland on Tuesday.

Welbeck and Rooney have already operated well for Manchester United this season, and are now looking to transfer that club understanding on to the international stage.

The duo both scored twice in Friday's 5-0 triumph over minnows San Marino at Wembley and now hope to take another step towards securing a place at the 2014 finals by triumphing in Warsaw.

Welbeck said: "I'm used to playing with Wazza up front at United and am really relishing the chance to play with him for England.

"Once we get into positions in and around the box, we know different styles of combinations to play.

"Now we're all really looking forward to the Poland game. It's going to be difficult but once we get on the pitch, we're going to show our stuff.

"We are top of the group now. That's where we want to be, that's the main aim, and that's where we want to finish as well."
