HUNDREDS of residents have launched a campaign to stop a 60ft mobile phone mast being built opposite their homes.
Springboig Bowling Club wants to rent part of its site to mobile firm O2 to raise funds for the club.
However, the campaign group has gathered around 200 letters against the mast in Springboig Avenue.
They insist they will block workers from putting up the structure if the mast wins approval from Glasgow City Council planning committee in the next few weeks.
The mast is to replace another at 17 Springboig Avenue, which is being moved to make way for building work.
Lorraine Milne, 45, has five children and lives opposite the proposed site. She said: "We were told the club would get £20,000 for the mast going up and then more money every year on top of that.
"Experts say they can prove there is no cancer issues, but who can be certain?"
Janice Dowling, 57, who is registered disabled and has a heart condition, said: "Everybody is raging and people are frightened for their health."
No-one at the club was available to comment.
A spokesman for O2 said: "An existing mast is going to have to move. We are trying to find a new site that will have less of an impact.
"I appreciate the concerns of those who live nearby, but all research has shown there is no impact to health and masts are safe."
A council spokeswoman said: "The application will be considered on its own merits."
