A MILITARY plane has crashed in Argyll this morning.
Emergency services were heading to the scene near the Rest and Be Thankful beauty spot on the A83.
The RAF Tornado crashed into a hillside around 11.45am today.
Rescuers were sent to the scene including police and ambulance crews. Helicopters were also scrambled.
A police spokeswoman said: "Police are on route to an incident after a plane crashed at 11.45 today."
The aircraft was on a routine training exercise when the accident happened.
Two people were on board, but it is not known at this stage whether there have been any fatalities.
An RAF spokesman said a major rescue efforts was now under way.
He said: "An RAF Tornado has crashed. At this time we do not yet know which base the aircraft came from. We have personnel heading their."
It is not yet known if the aircraft had got into difficulties before it crashed and a full investigation is expected to be carried out.
