The Gers boss was delighted his team came from behind against Berwick Rangers at Shielfield Park to win 3-1.

The win kept the Ibrox club 22 points clear of Queen's Park at the top of the Irn-Bru Third Division table.

However, having seen his side suffer late collapses against Elgin City and Montrose this season, McCoist was alarmed at how they finished.

The Ibrox club gifted the home team several chances near the end of the match.

McCoist said: "It was a strong, disciplined performance without being great.

"There was not a lot of good football played in the middle. In those circumstances, you have to put their defence under as much pressure as possible and we did that okay.

"But we are still giving away too many chances from set plays, from corners and free-kicks, particularly late on and that is something we have to cut out.

"But there looks more of a steeliness about them. To do well in league championships, to win promotion and titles, you have to grind out results in some games."

McCoist was delighted with the stunning goal Andy Little, who has now hit the target 21 times in the 2012/13 campaign, netted just before half-time.

He said: "It was one of the best goals I have seen this season. It was well worked down the left side.

"It was a lovely ball in from Lee Wallace and the volley from Andy Little was sensational. It was a top, top goal. It came at a crucial time for us."
