JOHN Brown today hit out at former Rangers players and managers for refusing to speak out against those in charge of the Ibrox club in the last three years.

Nine-in-A-Row great Brown has been vocal in his condemnation of successive boards since Charles Green took control of the Gers back in 2012.

The former defender staged a supporters rally outside the front doors of the stadium immediately after the Green-led consortium took control.

And since then Bomber has taken part in marches on the stadium, has helped hand in a petition to the club hierarchy and has joined in with a fans' protest.

But the former defender has revealed he was "surprised" that so few of his ex-team mates voiced their condemnation of what was happening at the Glasgow giants.

Brown said: "I was hoping that prominent Rangers people, ex-players, ex-managers, whoever, would have stood up and spoken out as well.

"Okay, they didn't know what I did. They would have had to stand beside me on my word alone and no more than that.

"But in recent months and times they have all known how bad this board have been and many of them have done and said nothing.

"It has surprised me that very few ex-employees of the club have stood up and stood alongside those fighting for change. Not just with me, with the Rangers Supporters Trust, Rangers First, the Sons of Struth.

"I am very surprised there has been so little vocal support from ex-team mates and guys who have earned well out of Rangers over the years. That was a disappointment to me."

He added: "But, at the end of the day, football clubs are about the fans. Without the fans, you haven't got a football club. The fans have deprived the club a major revenue source by not going to games.

"That has ultimately been what is going to cost those who have been in charge their jobs - and it is long overdue."
