YES says MATTHEW LINDSAY:

AFTER a 1-1 draw with Alloa at home and a 2-0 defeat to Hearts away, morale is low at Rangers at the moment.

The Gers have slipped nine points behind the Jambos in the race for the SPFL Championship.

And the Light Blues' recent form doesn't fill their supporters with confidence they can catch and then leapfrog the leaders.

But there is still a long, long way to go in the league this season and things can still change.

Ally McCoist's side had been on an eight-game winning streak before they slipped up against the Wasps.

Getting back to their best and going on another prolonged run will pile pressure on the second-tier leaders.

Robbie Neilson's side is undefeated in the 2014/15 campaign. But can they maintain that until next May? If the Ibrox club can stay in touch and their Tynecastle rivals falter they will find themselves back in contention.

NO says JOHN McGILL:

Hearts won the massive SPFL Championship showdown with Rangers at Tynecastle on Saturday despite not being able to field their strongest side.

Robbie Neilson was missing top scorer Osman Sow and captain Danny Wilson through injury and still managed to engineer a 2-0 victory.

So it is not inconceivable that the Jambos, who are undefeated in the second tier so far this season, will get better in the weeks and months ahead.

I would expect the capital club to maintain their nine-point advantage and go on to win promotion back to the top flight comfortably.

Even if they do slip up and drop points in the remainder of the 2014/15 campaign. I am not convinced the Light Blues won't do likewise.

Despite having Kris Boyd, Nicky Clark, Jon Daly and Kenny Miller at their disposal, Ally McCoist's side once again lacked a cutting edge in the final third at the weekend.

If they produce more displays like that again up front this term then they will slump to more draws and even defeats.
