NICKY Clark today insisted he has no concerns about his future prospects at Rangers - despite the arrival of Kenny Miller.

And he revealed he is not bothered about speculation linking Kris Boyd and David Goodwillie with moves to the Ibrox club.

For the striker believes that working and playing alongside an experienced internationalist like Miller can only improve him as a finisher.

And he reckons that bringing in more quality frontmen will help to ensure he performs at a consistently high level in the future.

"I always thought the manager would bring in a few more strikers this summer," he said as he helped to launch the new Rangers third kit at Ibrox.

"We picked up a few injuries last season and were down to one or two players in that department. So I think we needed to strengthen.

"Kenny coming in gives us that. You are obviously going to get injuries over the course of the season. We need a decent size of squad.

"Having the calibre of players like Kenny is great for the club and is great for me as well. His signing is not deflating for me at all. In fact, I think having him here will be great for me.

"He has played at the highest level, has loads of international caps, has played in the Premiership, has done everything there is to do in the game basically.

"He can only progress my career and help me a lot. I am sure he will show me things I don't know and also show me how to do things properly.

"I think he will be only good for me. I definitely think I'll be speaking to him a lot and I think he'll appreciate that.

"He'll want me to learn and I'm sure he'll do whatever he can for me. That is certainly true of all the senior players at Rangers. I have improved since joining Rangers, having played alongside guys like Jon Daly, Lee McCulloch and Lee Wallace.

"It helps you to see how these sort of experienced professionals conduct themselves. You can only progress when you're playing guys like that."

Ally McCoist is hoping more strikers will swell the ranks at Rangers in the coming weeks - with former favourite Boyd at the top of his wish list.

IF the prolific scorer was to put to pen-to-paper with the Light Blues once again - as he is keen to do - then he would be an automatic first-choice pick along with Miller.

However, Clark, who signed from Queen of the South last summer after finishing the 2012/13 season as the top scorer in Britain, is not fazed by that prospect.

He said: "You need competition for places at a club like this. With myself, Dean Shiels and big Jon Daly, we had competition last season.

"But you cannot allow any slackness to creep in. You need to stay on your toes and more players coming in to the club in my position will ensure I do.

"You need to look at it as a positive. If you don't then you're not going to last long at a club like Rangers.

"Obviously, if Kris comes in as well then, like Kenny, that can only be good also. He's also an international who has played at the highest level.

"Of course, you have to back yourself. You can't just sit back and accept these guys are going to play ahead of you. You need to go out and work really hard, show the manager you are just as good as them to play."

Clark was at the NARSA convention in Toronto last week with several of his Rangers team-mates and was struck by the passion for the Ibrox club from the hundreds of expat supporters who attended.

He was also left in no doubt that nothing less than victory in the SPFL Championship is expected in the forthcoming weeks.

He said: "I am really looking forward to the new season. With Hibs and Hearts in the league, too, it will be really interesting.

"A lot of people are saying the Championship will be the most interesting league in Scotland next season.

"We will wait and see how it unfolds. But I am really looking forward to it.

CLARK added: "I was at the NARSA convention last week and the fans were all brilliant with the boys.

"It does just show you how big the club is. I knew it was massive over in Canada, but until you're there you don't fully appreciate it.

"You see the fans at games in Scotland and you think: 'That's unbelievable!' But then you see them in Toronto and it reminds you how big this club is and what it means to them.

"I think they're really looking forward to the Championship, too. I definitely get the impression the fans expect us to win this league. But that's only fair.

"We need to get this club back to where it belongs and that means winning this division next season. That's what we'll be going out to do."

Clark and the other Rangers players - including defender Darren McGregor, who signed last night from St Mirren - will report back to training in a fortnight for the start of pre-season.

But the 23-year-old revealed he had already started his preparations for the new campaign as he is desperate to make an early impact and impress his manager

He said: "I've done a bit of work already. You neeed to keep yourself in condition. You can't just let yourself go.

"If you go into pre-season not having done anything then you just pick up injuries an that can badly affect your season. I think all of the boys have a done a bit of work so far."
