Delay into EBT probe

An independent commission's hearing on alleged dual contracts at Rangers will now begin in the New Year.

It was due to take place this month, but was postponed due to a panel member falling ill.

The commission was set up by the SPL to investigate allegations that Rangers paid players using side contracts as part of their Employee Benefit Trust scheme.

A tax tribunal said on Tuesday that Rangers were not liable to pay tax on the EBT scheme.

That decision led to Ibrox chief executive Charles Green stating that the SPL probe had been undermined. He has refused, so far, to co-operate with the investigations.

If Rangers are found guily of any wrong-doing by the commission, there are 18 possible punish-ments, one of which could be the stripping of titles.
