SANDY EASDALE is adamant that Mike Ashley's arrival at Rangers is a "positive" for the beleagured club.

The English businessman has grabbed power at Ibrox after the Light Blues hierarchy rubber-stamped his £2million emergency loan deal.

And Easdale, chairman of Rangers' Football Board, is pleased to have the Sports Direct tycoon at Ibrox.

He said: "The PLC board have done their duty and due diligence accordingly and I would say they have done what is in the best interests of the fans, the club and the shareholders.

"I can't comment on how they reached that decision.

"I would hope that this brings some stability to the club. We have got to look forward now.

"I can't tell people how to make their decisions but, at the end of the day, the supporters have heard so much over the years. I can only say we have got somebody who is interested in helping the club and we can only look at it as a positive.

"As far as I'm concerned (Ashley) wants to help the club. He has not intimated [that he wants total control] to me."

Ashley's arrival has already claimed two high-profile casualties after Philip Nash and Graham Wallace left the club but talk that boss Ally McCoist could follow has been played down.

Easdale said: "He is the manager and continues to be the manager.

"We have not got any ideas of changing the manager. That is not on the agenda."
