FORMER Bayern Munich boss Felix Magath today revealed he is still in the dark about whether he will have any role in a new football set-up at Rangers.

The German, a six-time Bundesliga winner as a player and a coach, had been touted as a possible Gers manager or director of football.

The 61-year-old sparked a flurry of speculation when he bought 810,000 shares in the Glasgow giants at the start of the year.

He flew to Scotland and met with major shareholder Dave King and director Paul Murray last month after the old Rangers regime was ousted at an EGM.

Magath told Sports Times today he is monitoring the SPFL Championship club's results closely from his home in Germany.

However, the one-time European Cup winner stressed he is still unsure if he will have any part to play in the rebuilding job at Ibrox at the end of the season.

He said: "I am looking forward to the end of the season and I hope the best for the Rangers.

"I am following their results and I am convinced they will have a very good future. I have some shares so I am still interested in what is happening at Rangers.

"At the moment I do not have plans to meet again with Rangers, but we will need to see what will happen.

"I am still living in Germany and everything is fine with me at the moment. I don't know when I will be back in Glasgow. We will just need to see what happens in future."

Stuart McCall was last month appointed interim Rangers manager until the end of the 2014/15 campaign and is hoping to secure promotion and win the job on a full-time basis.

The Gers are currently in third spot in the Championship table and have to beat champions Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday to stand any chance of finishing second and avoiding the play-off quarter-finals.

Magath, who proxied his votes to the Rangers Supporters Trust ahead of the general meeting that saw King and Murray sweep into power, has been out of work since leaving Fulham in September.

And last month he confirmed he would be interested in taking on some kind of role in the football set-up at Ibrox.

He said: "I would not rule it out. I don't know. At the moment I am fine. I follow things at Rangers closely.

"I am keeping in touch with things, for sure. I am interested in the situation at Rangers because I have bought shares, so of course I have an interest.

"But I'm not involved as such. I have an interest, but I am not there. I am just waiting for the result of the vote on Friday like other people."
