JOHN GILLIGAN reckons things can only get better for Rangers after a momentous day of regime change at Ibrox.

The businessman won a seat at the Light Blues top table alongside Dave King and Paul Murray as Derek Llambias and Barry Leach were finally ousted from power yesterday.

Lifelong Gers fan Douglas Park was appointed to the board just hours after the EGM that saw King and Co. claim a landslide Ibrox triumph.

And Gilligan is confident the club are back on the right track as they look to emerge stronger from the most turbulent period in their illustrious history.

He said: "Everything is about growth for us now. Proper growth in the business.

"Dave and Paul are the accountants, they want the bottom line. But we've got to get the top line to calculate it.

"Let's get the growth into the business and a bit of fun, happiness and enjoyment because the place is absolutely flat. Once you build all that it all comes together."

King declared victory in his battle against the board earlier this week but it was only yesterday that the final votes were unveiled after hundreds of shareholders attended the EGM at Ibrox.

Fans have rallied to the cause in recent months as they have taken to the streets in protest and acquired significant shareholdings to play their part in the King coup.

A sell-out crowd is expected for the Championship clash with Queen of the South on Tuesday night and Gilligan has hailed the role of the Light Blue legions.

He said: "When you consider that most of the shareholders today are actually supporters, today is a massive statement.

"To win by such an overwhelming majority make a real statement.

"A massive amount of Rangers fans control this club and this is a day to saviour.

"Let's enjoy the moment, enjoy the day because we can at last look to the future.

"For four years we have been under siege and now here we are, this club is safe."
