ANDY GORAM has backed Ally McCoist to prove the doubters wrong as the pressure continues to mount on the Rangers boss.

McCoist saw his side fall six points adrift of Hearts on Saturday as they slumped to a 1-1 draw at home to Alloa.

The Light Blues head to Tynecastle this weekend for a huge Championship clash and nine-in-a-row legend Goram said: "If we win the league this year, Coisty will be in charge in the Premiership next year.

"Like it or not, the fans or whoever doesn't like it, he is going to be there, unless we don't win the league.

"Coisty is single-minded, he does it his own way. Not much affects Ally. He is strong enough and he has will-power.

"As a centre-forward, you have got to be a different animal. If something goes wrong and you miss a chance, you have to go back again.

"It is similar with management. When something goes wrong, he goes back again."

Saturday's shocking performance against the Wasps follows home defeats to Hearts and Hibs already this campaign.

Under 30,000 turned out to see the Championship fixture and Goram reckons Ibrox is not home sweet home for Rangers.

He said: "Drawing at home to Alloa, the fans aren't going to accept that and Coisty won't accept that, and the players shouldn't accept that.

"It is not an easy league and Ibrox, at the moment, I don't think is an easy stadium to play in because of all the things going on.

"The fans are having a go at Coisty, they are having a go at the board. If it's not that it's the players.

"Rangers' away record is fantastic over the last two-and-a-half years but [Ibrox] is not a nice place to go and play just now."
