A total of 153 teams were represented at the fifth annual conference in Doha, chaired by the legendary Bayern Munich and German figure Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

A number of key points were discussed but the most interesting was the massive support in the room for the current structure of European football.

Flying in the face of proposals by Uefa president Michel Platini – who wants to bring together the Champions League and the Europa League – the top clubs backed the current set-up.

A staggering 92% said they want the two competitions to remain in tandem and there was also a 75% backing to the structure of the two competitions.

However, there were 61% in favour of the Europa League winners gaining direct access to the following season's Champions League group phase.

Meanwhile, Ally McCoist is facing a nervous wait to see if his international players will be fit for Saturday's Irn-Bru Third Division clash with Queen's Park at Ibrox.

Lee Wallace is in Gordon Strachan's Scotland squad for tonight's friendly with Estonia at Pittodrie and is expected to feature.

Barrie McKay has also been named in the Under-19 squad which has travelled to the Netherlands.

Dean Shiels is in Northern Ireland's pool for their tie with Malta.

McCoist already has injury worries over Lee McCulloch, Kevin Kyle, Lewis Macleod and Darren Cole.
