FUMING Falkirk manager Peter Houston claimed his side were denied a late penalty.

Rangers centre-half Bilel Mohsni handled the ball inside his own area after Rory Loy lost control with the score at 2-1. However, match official Alan Muir ignored the home team's appeals and the visitors went on to win 3-1.

After watching his SPFL Championship club fail to progress to the quarter-finals, Houston said: "I felt we were denied a stonewall penalty kick. Rory has taken a bad touch but it has smacked up off the boy's arm. The players are adamant it was a penalty and I certainly thought so.

"I was disappointed with some of the refereeing decisions. I have no idea why he didn't give it.

"The rule is if your arm is up in the box and the ball hits it, then it's a penalty kick. Unfortunately, the referee never saw it the way I saw it.

"It was at a crucial time. If we had got the penalty we are right back in the game.

"There is disappointment we didn't get the penalty but there is disappointment about the way we played in the second half, because we didn't get anywhere near the way we can play."
