RANGERS are set to sell out their SPFL Premiership play-off final match against Motherwell at Ibrox later today.

Stuart McCall's side will take on Ian Baraclough's team in the first leg of the final at the Govan stadium on Thursday.

The Gers have been swamped with supporters buying sought-after briefs since they defeated Hibs 2-1 on aggregate in the semi-final on Saturday.

Rangers had sold over 40,000 briefs for the meeting with the second bottom team in the Premiership by the close of business last night.

The ticket office at Ibrox opened at eight o'clock this morning and club officials don't expect any tickets to be left for a game that will be screened live on BT Sport 1.

The Light Blues board set the prices for the play-off games at £5 after the SPFL refused to allow them to let in season ticket holders for free.

And Rangers followers desperate to play a part in their team completing "The Journey" back to the top flight have taken full advantage of the offer.

Over 48,000 turned up to watch the second leg of the quarter-final against Queen of the South nine days ago.

Then more than 41,000 watched as McCall's men defeated Alan Stubbs's charges 2-0 in the first leg of the semi-final last Wednesday.

But the mouthwatering encounter with 'Well, who have been given 950 tickets for their fans, promises to attract more than both of those fixtures.

If Rangers are ahead of their opponents at the end of the second leg at Fir Park on Sunday they will clinch a place in the top flight after a three-year absence.

Nine-In-A-Row great McCall, who is hoping to win promotion and earn a full-time contract, reckons the backing has helped his side reach this stage.

He said: "The players get a buzz from the support. Everyone in the team has enjoyed the vibe of the games.

"If everyone is cheering then it just makes you feel better about yourself. You do things better when you feel better about yourself.

"To succeed, everyone needs to be in it and aiming for the same thing. To get the best result everyone needs to be behind each other.

"That is us behind the players, the players behind each other, the fans behind the players."

"Even the young ones, like Andy Murdoch, are relishing the atmosphere rather than fearing it. That is what we've got to do."

McCall has admitted his Rangers players are tired at the end of an energy-sapping 2014/15 campaign.

And he has expressed hope that the Gers fans would get them over the finishing line.

He added: "In the last 25 minutes on Saturday the supporters really spurred the players on.

"We really had to dig in during the second half and when we got to about 65 minutes the supporters dragged us through."

Rangers defeated a Motherwell team managed by Stuart McCall after they dropped down to the Third Division in the 2012/13 season and have been installed as strong favourites to win the play-off final.
