KENNY McDOWALL has saluted the Rangers back-up players who are deserving welcome fringe benefits to the first team.

Nicky Law capitalised on a first-team start to bag his seventh goal of the season by getting Gers off the mark against Falkirk at Ibrox.

And Nicky Clark also staked his claim to come in from the cold by clinching fourth after replacing third scorer Kenny Miller.

Fellow substitute Jon Daly made an impact as well when he sent in an intelligent cross for Macleod to convert.

Lewis Macleod may be hogging all the headlines right now but the Ibrox backroom team have repeatedly stressed they need every player to fire on all cylinders throughout the season.

The Light Blues' management has always maintained it will need everyone in the first-team pool to contribute this season if Gers are to gain promotion.

And assistant boss McDowall is pleased it's not just those in the starting XI who are making a difference.

He told the club's official website: "Jon did well when he came on and we've got a great squad at the moment.

"We're really fortunate we've got Jon, Nicky Clark and Dean Shiels.

"They're all waiting their turn and they've been very patient. We've said to them all along it will take the whole squad to get us over the line this year.

"They're obviously not getting as much game time as they would like but to get a goal or set one up helps them and it helps us. We need them all to do that."
