LEE McCULLOCH is delighted to see former strike partner Andy Little back on the goal trial.

The Northern Irishman finished Rangers' top scorer last season and after a slow start to the new campaign has found his shooting boots again.

He has netted in his last four outings and McCulloch is pleased to see his hard work paying off.

He said: "That's a good record. Last season we got a few goals between us and new strikers have come in now.

"There has been pressure on me and Andy - and maybe even more so Andy because I've been playing at the back - to keep scoring.

"He took his time in pre-season and was probably trying too hard, to be honest. I know what he's like and he's just desperate to score from all over the pitch.

"You could tell with his finish at the weekend how relaxed he was with his shooting and I'm delighted he got his goal.

"Andy has been working away in the background and he's got a great attitude so it's good to see him on that run."

Meanwhile, keeper Steve Simonsen has hailed the quality at Ibrox after joining the Gers ranks last week.

"You've got lads in the squad who have played in the Premier League in Scotland and for good teams as well," Simonsen told rangers.co.uk.

"They've been in top-half teams and the standard of our pool is magnificent.

"It's not a League One-standard squad at all.

"That's a credit to the club, the manager and the coaching staff, who have managed to assemble a group like that.

"We know how difficult it has been but the lads who are here now are great and are very good footballers."
