LEWIS Macleod today told Rangers team-mate Kris Boyd he will hit the goals trail soon - after overtaking him in the scoring charts.

Macleod netted a stunning overhead kick against Livingston at the Energy Assets Stadium on Saturday to ensure his side won 1-0.

The 20-year-old's spectacular first-half effort meant that Ally McCoist's side extended their unbeaten run in league games away from home to TWO YEARS.

It also saw the Scotland Under-21 midfielder take his tally for the 2014/15 campaign to six - one ahead of out-of-sorts Boyd.

He said: "I had been out for two weeks so it was just good to get back into the swing of things.

"To get the goal was also great. It felt better than the one I scored against Ayr United last season. It was especially pleasing after the difficult week that we have had.

"We should have won by more, however. Boydy and I both had chances to score in the second half and we didn't take them.

"If you can take your opportunities, it obviously makes the game a whole lot easier. Unfortunately, we didn't and, therefore, we struggled near the end."

Macleod added: "Kris doesn't need to prove to anyone that he can score goals. He has shown over the years that he is a proven goalscorer.

"I am sure that when he scores one, many more will follow. He just needs to get one and he will be off and running."
