STUART McCall has warned volatile Rangers star Bilel Mohsni he needs to keep his fiery temper under control during the SPFL Championship run-in.

And he has also told every member of the Gers squad they have to stay cool during the fraught final matches of the 2014/15 campaign and avoid needless bookings.

Mohsni was yellow carded for mouthing off at opposition fans during his side's 3-0 defeat to Queen of the South at Palmerston Park on Thursday night.

And the Tunisian internationalist was also filmed punching the artificial surface in frustration by broadcasters BT Sport towards the end of the match in Dumfries.

The defender, who was red carded in a pre-season friendly last year for head butting a rival player, has a dire disciplinary record.

McCall revealed has spoken to the hothead centre half, who has been brought in to cover for suspended captain Lee McCulloch, about his play and his temperament.

He said: "I've had to have a word with him over his concentration levels. On Thursday night he did some absolutely outstanding things in the game and then he did some slack things and sloppy things.

"I didn't even see what he was booked for. But Kenny (assistant boss Black) said to me it was a reaction to their fans. I can understand frustration and anger at the result. As long as he is only punching the ground and nobody else!

"But we can't afford silly bookings now at this stage of the season. We have lads just a game away from being suspended. If it's for tackles okay, but we can't afford silly bookings for talking to the crowd or taking the shirt off or backchat."

McCall added: "I don't like that, it's a lack of discipline. But I'll have a look at that. We can't afford to have any players to be getting caught up in stuff. They have to be on their game.

"There will be a lot of big games, big crowds, tension and drama until the last kick of the season. So cool heads is the way to go.

"But I still like fire in the belly. I don't want people to surrender meekly and mildly. There is nothing wrong with a bit of passion as long as it's channelled in the right way."

McCall was missing eight players for the trip to Dumfries on Thursday night - but he is hoping to welcome three players back against Raith Rovers at Ibrox tomorrow.

Goalkeeper Cammy Bell, who returned from a long-term shoulder injury last month, was omitted from the squad after sustaining a slight knee injury in training at Murray Park.

But the former Scotland internationalist is set to take his place in the starting line-up for the Championship match against Raith.

Elsewhere, Dean Shiels, who sat out the Doonhamers loss after making four successive starts, is available while Tom Walsh, who has been out with a hamstring problem, will come into the squad.

McCall said: "Young Walshy took part in about an hour long bounce game and has come through with no ill-effect so hopefully he should be ok to be involved in the squad for Sunday.

"Cammy has done a light bit of training today and we'll have a look at him tomorrow so there's a possibility that he'll available."

"Shiels needed a rest last night with aches and pains and the fact that we were playing on the astro pitch - so he'll be fresh for Sunday."
