STUART MCCALL isn't fazed at the prospect of having to negotiate six play-off matches to earn Rangers promotion to the top flight this season.

The Light Blues head to Livingston tonight aiming to climb to second spot in the Championship standings and move three points clear of Hibernian with just a hat-trick of fixtures left this term.

If McCall's side can finish best of the rest behind Hearts, it would mean they face the winner of the tie between the teams that are third and fourth in the standings.

If the Gers can emerge victorious from that two-legged encounter, they will then square up to the team that finishes eleventh in the Premiership for a place in the top flight.

McCall said: "You go into them and you just get on with it, if it's six games so be it.

"Queen of the South are on a great run and they'll think they've got three winnable games.

"If you look at the fixtures we all go the Livingston, us, Hibs and Queen of the South.

"Having seen Livingston last week they are on the best run of results they've had this season, they are playing with confidence but we're certainly than we were when we played them in my first game in charge.

"If we have to play six games we have to play six games but it's our aim, as it is for Hibs and Queen of the South, is to try to get second.

"But whether you have to play four games or six games, will it have an affect I don't think so.

"I think the biggest affect is probably suspensions kicking in, which is a shame.

"It used to be in my day down in England that around early March that your bookings stopped. Six bookings isn't a great deal over 36 games and then six play-off games.

"So you could miss the final play-off game, your 42nd game because you've picked up six booking which isn't a lot.

"That's something which could be looked at. There should be a cut-off point at some stage of the season."
