ALLY McCOIST admits Rangers will have to battle the conditions as well as a fired-up Arbroath if they are to continue their stunning start to the season tonight.

The Ibrox side head to Gayfield aiming to record their 13th-straight win in SPFL League One and extend their advantage at the top of the table to 11 points.

The trip to Angus will be another new experience for McCoist's side, and the Light Blues boss knows his stars will have a fight on their hands tonight.

He said: "I'm running the risk of upsetting the Arbroath general public, but I don't think I've been up there on a nice day.

"I'm well aware they must have nice days, but they don't save them for the football!

"I've been windswept, soaked, hit with hail, snow, you name it. I don't think I've ever been hit with it before on a Monday night so this is a new one.

"But we've been up there a few times over the years in cup games and so on. There's something magical about Gayfield.

"I think it's the park nearest to an ocean so there's some magic there. I remember going up there as a 16-year-old for St Johnstone.

"There's a fairground next door and I've never seen anybody in it in all the years of going up there!"

While the unique surrounds of Gayfield will not be strange to striker Nicky Clark, who netted twice there while playing for Queen of the South last season, it will be the first time the likes of Bilel Mohsni and Arnold Peralta have starred at the Red Lichties' home.

Midfielder Peralta is available after staring for Honduras against Brazil last week and McCoist is delighted to see his summer signing gearing up for Rio after Los Catrachos booked their place at the World Cup finals.

He said: "It's fantastic for him to be going to the World Cup and we're very proud of Arnold. It's a boost for everyone to have a player going to the World Cup.

"I loved playing for my country and I think it's great for our football club that our players are playing at international level.

"He's not told me about it yet, but I did read one or two reports that Neymar wasn't too happy with the attention that Arnold gave him and that brought a smile to my face.

"The one guarantee I can give you is that he won't have to deal with Neymar on Monday night in Arbroath!"
