Rangers captain Lee McCulloch has praised Ibrox teammate Kevin Kyle for his physical display in Rangers' 4-2 win at Montrose.

Ally McCoist's men came from a goal down to claim victory at Links Park, with Kyle claiming his third goal of the season in the process.

And McCulloch believes that the height and strength of the former Kilmarnock forward will prove vital in unsettling defences between now and the end of the campaign.

Kyle has taken time to get up to match speed after a lenthy period on the sidelines, but his powerful physique and goalmouth instinct is likely to be of benefit as Rangers look ahead to the latter half of their season.

The Gers skipper told Rangersfc.co.uk: "I'm really pleased for Kev, he worked very hard today and thoroughly deserved to get his goal.

"He's got a physical presence, has a great touch and can get goals, as he showed, so it's brilliant to have him in the team.

"I know he took a knock but hopefully he will be okay and he can get a run of games.

"He certainly gives us something different up top because of his height and, playing in defence right now myself, I wouldn't fancy coming up against him."

McCulloch was also back on the scoresheet as he netted his 20th goal of the season from the spot.

The Gers captain believes his side's latest win is a sign that the Ibrox men are becoming gradually better at grinding out results.

He added: "The most important thing was that we got the three points.

"That was a hard game, they started with two players up top and that caused us a few problems, especially at the death.

"It was nervy towards the end and I feel we could have done a bit better as a team.

"But we got the win and it keeps our run going. We're starting to motor on now."
