LEE McCULLOCH has insisted the Rangers squad are fully behind outgoing manager Ally McCoist - but stressed on-field matters must take priority.

The Rangers captain has urged his players to concentrate on winning promotion from the SPFL Championship, and not allow the off-field problems to get in their way.

He said: "The dressing room is my main concern. For me it's about trying to get the dressing room to forget about everything that has gone on and try to get our game back - and some points back on the league leaders.

"We need to just concentrate on ourselves and forget all the excuses that are round about us and concentrate on being a football player and turning up focused on our job and your job within the team."

The Ibrox club have endured a recent dip in form with three defeats in the last five games.

And the uncertainty over the manager's future could make getting back to winning ways more difficult.

McCulloch admitted the mood around the club is similar to when the Light Blues entered administration in 2012.

But the 36-year-old skipper is adamant the squad is fully behind the manager and that the players have the character and the mentality to get back to winning ways.

He said: "As players, we are backing the manager with everything he has done for us. We want to do better for him, for ourselves and for the fans.

"We were on a great run of form and that's exactly what we have to get back to. We were on a run of eight wins, conceding just two goals, and working hard and scoring goals.

"We were showing a desire to pull on a Rangers strip, which is a big thing. Then, all of a sudden, we've hit a lull."

McCulloch believes the squad have the ability to turn their fortunes around and has not ruled out the possibility of the team going unbeaten for the remainder of the season.

He said: "It's possible, it's definitely possible. We have got the players, the squad and the strength in depth."
